API Engineer

About the role

The work includes API and SDK design, implementation, testing, versioning, documentation, automation, and direct developer feedback.

What you'll do

• Design and implement clear, stable APIs and idiomatic SDK interfaces.
• Develop tests and automation for releases, compatibility, and SDK maintenance.
• Write examples and documentation and respond to developer issues and feedback.
• Work with product and engineering teams on API behavior, reliability, and developer ergonomics.

What we're looking for

• Software engineering experience developing public or internal APIs, SDKs, or developer platforms.
• Strong API design judgment and the ability to explain abstraction and compatibility tradeoffs.
• Experience in at least one language commonly used for backend services or SDKs.
• Care for documentation, testing, error handling, and developer feedback.

Preferred experience

• Experience maintaining open-source SDKs, code generation, or multi-language API clients.
