Applied Research Scientist

About the role

The work combines consequential research questions, controlled experiments, quantitative analysis, and close collaboration with engineers.

What you'll do

• Select useful research problems and define clear hypotheses and success measures.
• Design and run controlled experiments that test new and existing machine learning methods.
• Analyze results, identify limitations, and decide which ideas merit further work.
• Work with research and engineering partners to apply successful methods to product problems.

What we're looking for

• A record of developing new machine learning ideas or improving existing methods.
• Strong experimental-design, statistical-analysis, and quantitative-reasoning skills.
• The programming ability to implement ideas and evaluate them rigorously.
• Clear written and verbal communication about methods, evidence, and uncertainty.

Preferred experience

• Research publications, open-source work, or applied research shipped in a product.
