Safety Researcher

About the role

The work includes research direction, experiments, red-team evaluations, model analysis, practical mitigations, and collaboration with product, policy, legal, and operations partners.

What you'll do

• Develop research questions and experiments for important model safety risks.
• Design evaluations that test the effectiveness and robustness of safety measures.
• Analyze failure patterns and translate useful findings into practical mitigations.
• Communicate results and open questions to research, product, legal, policy, and trust and safety partners.

What we're looking for

• Research or research-engineering experience in machine learning safety or a closely related field.
• Strong Python skills and experience developing machine learning experiments.
• Experience with red-team evaluation, adversarial robustness, or misuse detection.
• The ability to set a research direction and explain evidence clearly.

Preferred experience

• Experience moving safety research into production evaluation or mitigation work.
