5 ways to earn with a GPU, PC, or spare storage in 2026

Five ways hardware earns: Leiolai device contribution, GPU rental, PC compute, storage, and bandwidth, each with a different payout type.

Earn with Leiolai

Leiolai pays users for the computation their devices provide. An eligible iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, or Windows device can contribute through the free app. You don't need an RTX 5090 or a dedicated rental machine to get started.

Background earning is built for a device you still use. On Windows, Leiolai adjusts its workload as other apps use the CPU, GPU, or memory. When a game needs more of the CPU or GPU, Leiolai backs off and picks back up when your PC has room again. Leiolai is designed to keep its performance impact low while you're using your device.

Rent a GPU on Vast.ai

Vast.ai lets hosts list GPU capacity. You install Ubuntu, NVIDIA drivers, and its host software, then keep the machine available through any rental contract. This is for a PC you can dedicate to hosting, not one you plan to switch off between games.

Share PC compute through Salad

Salad assigns work to eligible PCs when jobs are available. It credits Salad Balance, which can be redeemed for gift cards, subscriptions, and PayPal rewards where offered. Leaving the app open does not mean there is a paying job every hour.

Can an RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 make money?

Yes, through GPU rental or eligible PC workloads. NVIDIA lists the RTX 5090 with 32 GB of VRAM and 575 W total graphics power, and the RTX 5080 with 16 GB and 360 W. The 5090's extra VRAM opens up larger model-hosting jobs. Salad's compatibility guide names the RTX 4090 among its examples but does not explicitly list either 50-series card. Check your exact PC before counting on Salad income.

Run a storage node on Storj

Storj pays node operators for storage and outbound data actually used by its network. Payouts are in USDC, not a bank transfer. Its node requirements include at least 500 GB of shared storage and a reliable internet connection. Storj's payout minimum varies with Ethereum transaction fees, so a small balance may carry into a later month.

Share bandwidth through Honeygain

Honeygain pays credits when partners use part of your internet connection. It does not publish a fixed traffic rate: demand changes by location and time. The traffic comes from third parties, so check your internet provider's rules before enabling it. Honeygain's standard cash-out threshold is $20.

So which one should you use?

Have a GPU machine you can dedicate to renters? Look at Vast.ai. Spare disk space fits Storj; unused bandwidth fits Honeygain if you're comfortable with third-party traffic on your connection. Salad is another way to earn from a Windows PC when it has jobs for your hardware.

If it's the phone or computer you use every day, start with Leiolai. It can contribute in the background, and the Windows app yields resources when your own work or games need them. No rental listing or dedicated box required.
